The Main Terrace
This is where the original house, built in 1811 stood.
In 1845 the house was refaced with Portland stone and this terrace and most of the garden was constructed.
At the same time the park was created by moving the Shobrooke road and damming the stream to make the cascade of lakes.
The house was high enough to give the view from the ground floor over the wall to the park beyond.
The whole area was gravelled until the 1930s when part of it was grassed over to make a tennis court.
The modern bungalow, designed by Anthony Hollow, was built in 1981.
